Hi,
I’m not too sure where you are coming from, so I can not tell you what kind of fares and travel/accom packages you can get.
However, if you have not booked your ticket yet, try http://www.kayak.com
This searches all the airlines that go the roote you want, and will give the cheapest flight.

I recommend flying into Christchurch as opposed to Wellington or Auckland, if you can.
If you do fly into Auckland have a look at this web site for some ideas on tours etc to do there

(Going down to Rotorua is a must in the North Island).

Then if you do fly into Wellington (which has amazing a very artist flair to the city) I would recommend going by Ferry across to the South Island. I lovely trip going through the Marlbrough Sounds at the tip of the South Island.

Christchurch is on the east coast of the South Island.
Have a look at this websites for some things to do in Christchurch and the South Island.

Some must see’s are the West Coast (Fox Glacier, Pancake rocks etc) and then also Kiakora on the East Coast (going on a Whale watch boat trip, then coming back to shore and feasting on fresh lobster, is still one of the best things I have experinced this life time).

New Zealand caters for all toursit markets, from the adventure junkies (bunjee jumping etc) to the senior’s. You will find that the locals are more than willing to accomadate to your needs and extreamly helpful.

I have given you a few ideas and links to help you out on your trip.
There are easy to find Information Centres in almost every town in NZ, and they will be most helpful in advising you.

I sincerely hope that you have a FANTASTIC vacation!
