i had thought about it for quite a while i don`t frequent bars or belong to any church the factory where i am an electrician is all male and most of them do not speak english .it has been along time since i dated so i was thinking of e harmony or something but i`m still not sure.but i think if you went a reputable site you should be safe enough that and your own instincts should keep you safe.

I don't believe on-line dating is safe for anyone. You never know who you are talking to. Anyone can pretend to be whoever they want and its a prime place for predators. Be safe please!!!

Sincerely

Brad Pitt

i tried on line dating as a 55 plus and the ones that i meet were wantabee player, who either did not have or had forgotten how, or needed pumps to get anything to work. i decided it was not worth the effort. they just wanted their egos fluffed.

Tried it for quite a while. All I found is that the person online and even on the phone is never the person who actually shows up. They can be whoever they want to be online and on the phone, but in person, the real them shows up and from my experience, it was no fun.

On-line is by far the easiest way to meet people...this says nothing about quality, just quantity. And believe nothing, fall for nothing, and certainly don't get involved in a virtual romance!
Have the guy give you his phone number and call him from your cell phone (not home phone). IF he sounds fine, meet over coffee to see how things go. The number of creeps out there are highly over rated... WE are in an age group that is not usually kidnapped, raped, etc.
If all goes well over coffee, he will call you for a date...take it from there. PLease do not expect a 50-60 (0r older) man to have the body of a 20 year old, and all that comes with a 20 year old's body...ain't gonna happen.
Have realistic expectations and you should do just fine. I do not believe in marriage at our age, but I do believe in seeing other people (person) and enjoying life in general.
AS for the gold digger part, .... let's face it kids, no matter what age we are, we use what we have to get what we want! When we are young, we use health, body, face, and personality. When we are older, things just start shifting around. My advice to anyone is ...use what you have to get what you want. ! Men are not above offering their security to women as an incentive , and I do not see why women should not do the same...AS LONG as they get the love and whatever in return! (this is going to upset many of you, I know..but I am realistic, not a fool). I personally know many couples who lead a good life, got together late in life, and the woman is the one with the money. I do NOT condone a man going through anyone's money, but as far as living, etc...I see no problems at all. Hell, some women have so much money, they will never use it in their life time, many women have been left a lot of money, and many good men just never made it with anything but getting through life..BIG DEAL! I see no reason that should prevent two people from being happy.

Anyone who meets people online has to do it safely. Age is not a factor.

I met a lot of people in person after meeting them online. I never had any real problems, although a few of the guys who implied that they were single actually had wives... and kids... but that's still not the same as being raped or killed.

You do have to be smart & safe, though. Meet in a public place, maybe with friends at another table to keep an eye on you, if you're really nervous about it. I always had a friend who knew where I was going, who I was meeting, and what time I planned to be home... and I'd call her to let her know I got home OK when the meeting was over.

I always talked to the guy on the phone before I met him, too. Sometimes someone who seems cool online ... isn't so cool on the phone. It's harder to hide that "creepiness factor" on the phone.

All that said... I want you to know that I met my husband online. Next month is our fifth anniversary. And yeah, I still love the guy. :-)

would be as safe as any other means, seems to me. do your first sorting thru email chatting. then, just agree to meet at a public place; don't get into eachother's cars, give out home address info etc. until you are quite sure that you are not dealing with a creep. why would even you want a more intimate setting until you knew he was someone you liked "that way" anyway? just seems like common sense to me. this applies to any age group.
